Green was honored with the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002. Throughout his career, he has received 9 Grammy Awards in various Gospel and Pop categories, but has never won in the R&B category.

EMI Music artists scored 45 nominations for The 51st Annual Grammy Awards, including Al Green's four nominations in the R&B category for his album, “Lay it Down.” Trophies will be handed out on Feb. 8, 2009. Click Here to read the press release.

Go Al, Go Al, Go Al, Go Al!! Since the release of the "Lay It Down" cd, the overall song favorite in my region of the country (and one that continues to impress everyone who hears it) is "You've Got The Love I Need". Good luck and sincere best wishes, Reverend!
