Hi everyone........the new website for the Very Rev is just wunnerful...long overdue for the great man. Why don't we all introduce ourselves whilst the numbers are still fairly small....this will change no doubt in due course.
My name is Jacky and I'm from Edinburgh, Scotland.I'm 57 years young...lol and have been a fan for more years than I can remember.Am just looking forward to Als next visit to Scotland...can't come soon enough.
My other musical tastes are Marvin Gaye/Barry White/Jack Johnson/James Blunt/all Motown/Rod Stewart/Joe Roberts and many more too many to mention but the main man is and always has been The Very Right Rev Mr Al Green Kiss

Born and raised in Michigan, living in California for almost 30 years now.  I recently moved to Northern CA from Southern CA and absolutely love it here.  But not as much as I love the sweet sounds of Al Green Wink

Hello Everybody!

"Kay" is my nickname.  I live in Michigan.  Al's music was at the top of the charts during my college years in the 1970's.  I love and appreciate his music now more than ever before!!!  Smiley

Hi everyone!  I am from Houston, Tx and I am 30 yrs old.  Al Green has been my favorite performer from day one.  My parents played his albums when i was kid and I was immediately hooked.  My friends and family would tease me because I would go crazy (literally) everytime I would see Al Green on TV or in person.  I am not this way with any other performer! When his VHS tapes were released, I would watch them everyday and I still do.  I am so pleased that there is a place where I can talk about Al Green with other die hard fans.

Hello everbody!

I'm from London (UK) and I am 30 yrs old. I have admired the Reverend for a very long time. I went to see Al in concert twice last year during his tour in London, he was absolutely fantastic!

Prior to seeing him in London I saw him in Las Vegas 2003. I'm always listening to his cd's or watching his dvd's. I plan to visit his church in memphis in the not too distant future.

Best regards,

Rob

Hello Everyone,

I'm Joe, 56 yo blue-eyed soulster in The Bull City, Durham, NC and longtime devotee of His Reverence.  I saw Him in Chapel Hill, NC about (I think) 15-18 years ago and he was in his Gospel mode it was truly a religious experience.  I'm stoked that he'll be in the Carolinas in September and will catch one or both of the shows.

Being an old horn player, I am particularly interested in the awesome rhythm section that blows me away.  Other artist that really interest me are Miss Bettye Lavette  (Whew...if you ever get the chance!!!), The Allman Brothers Band, Derek Trucks Band, Bernard Allison and Bobby Womack.  This month for me was the Allman's and Derek/ September will be Al and also the Bull Durham Blues Festival/ October I'm going to Seattle on a wine tour and the fricking Stones are there on Oct 17.

I certainly feel priveleged to be with you here, Mari Lu, Kay, Jaynsee B, Mimi, Jacky, beautyqueen, et al and look forward to participating and appreciate all of the great information.  Very nice Forum and lovely ladies to boot!!!   Love and Happiness,  Joe

Hi there folks, Is it my imagination or are some of the newer members with strange drug-sounding names a little bit suspect? I am sure there must be someway to authenticate their origins. Am a member of other forums who do not seem to have this problem. I feel sure that our Rev would not want these suspect people clogging up his website.
Has anyone seen these weird names or is it just me? Angry

JackyM,

Unfortunately, the drup-related and casino-related member names that you see in our Member List are spammers.  As moderator, I delete the spam posts created by them.  I do not have the ability to delete their membership or block more spam coming from their IP address.  The spam problem has been reported to our board administrator, Jon Hensley.

Thanks for that reply Kay. Glad that you are on top of the situation. Smiley

Am just glad that you are aware of it. Was beginning to think I was imagining things when these weird names kept cropping up. Just sad that they have nothing better to do in their lives than be a nuisance to other people.

I am originally from Alabama.  My most favorite song of The Greatest singer in the World,Al Green, is "Belle"--I truly love that song because I can identify with the choices he had to make. I wonder if it was based on a real life situation?

I was born is Arkansas, reside in Seattle, Washington and will be moving to either Atlanta Georgia or Memphis, Tennessee in 2009. I am 54 years young and have been a longtime fan of the Right Reverand. I enjoy his music and his performances are nothing short of amazing.  I also enjoy Nelly, Chris Brown, Monica, and the whole ATL finger popping sound.

I can tell a little more about Rev. Al. He went to South High School in Grand Rapids, the same H.S. as President Ford. And, when he came to Muskegon to visit his family at the height of his career back in the 1970S, it was pure kayos.LOL

There are other personal things about him I know, but I think that should be kept secret.
